Boo-Humbug

Twas the night before Boo-day and all through the house

not a creature was stirring, 'cuz Mommy's a louse.

The costumes were chosen with the greatest of care

but Mommy refuses to spray paint their hair.

No pumpkin was carved, no decor to be found

Mommy sucks, there's no candy around!

For Kindergarten, the little ones parade around school,

and Mommy wasn't there to film it - the fool.

You see - Halloween's not my thing. Nor are most Holidays.

I show my affection in much different ways.

I buy candy just before the hour falls

icky things I don't like, like Cabbage Patch Sour Balls.

I'd just as soon give them candy - 'cuz I'm lazy

and save all the effort of door -to-door knockin - You must think I'm crazy!

Is it wrong that we'll travel with wagon behind?

Not for them, but for me - to carry the wine!!

Be safe !

(this is my lame effort to participate in Eat , Drink and Be Scary sponsored by Angie of Seven Clown Circus and Better in Bulk - I wanna win the FLIP video camera)

Oh that was cute! I have to admit that I have always kinda felt the same way. I would have been find to buy the kids a huge amount of candy and keep them home. I never did, but I sure wanted to.

This is a fabulous entry! Whenever I try to write a poem, it always ends up starting with, "there once was a man from..."

What you put together here is very funny. Well done!

This is so cute- I am so ... meh... when it comes to Halloween. This is my babe's first Halloween and my 6-month old could care less. I forced myself to carve some pumpkins too. Boo.

My favorite part was the wine, um part.
It didn't have a major role in the story....but is a great supporting actress!!

Love your poem!! And I'm right there with you on the cabbage patch sour candies. I'll take the chocolate instead, thank you. :)

I'm not a big fan of holidays in general, but do love me some Halloween. Bunches.

I know so many people who would say that Halloween is their favorite holiday. I would not put my name on that list. Maybe because my creativity is nonexistent and I can't think of costumes. Or because the whole idea of decorating is lovely...but then you have to take it all down. And the candy! I bought some Thursday. Thinking I was smart to wait that long. But...it's almost all gone. I should have bought the cabbage sour balls :-)

Well done!

Halloween is one of those holidays I've always felt a bit 'meh' about. Last year we did crafts and a couple years ago, I carved my first pumpkins, but this year, it just kind of lept up on us and we didn't do any pumpkins and I didn't even dig costumes out until the night before.

That doesn't mean I didn't buy candy bars several weeks ago that I tore into a few days before trick or treat, though!

I guess I'm your polar opposite on this one...I love Halloween....free candy?! Spookiness?! Cute Costumes?! I'm there :)

Love the poem!

I got rid of the wagon when the kids got too big for it.

A keg can get heavy after a couple of blocks.

The only thing that makes accompanying trick-or-treaters bearable is booze. I’m just sayin’.
