The One Where She Wonders If All Drains Really Do Lead the Ocean

It's a sad day here at our place. Well, it didn't start out that way.

Soccer Saturday was a huge success. Emily's team tied 2 all. Rachel's team won 4-2. Rachel scored a goal today! You should have seen her little face light up! She gave me the thumbs up and got back in the scrum. Pirate Booty for snack...(yes)!

Then I take Emily to the Mall for her birthday shop. We hit "the Limited Too!" and I cringe for the whole 30 minutes we are there. What a rip off that place is. Lull the tweeners into a false sense of security with your all that bling and the offer of $5.99 Webkins with purchase. Big 'Shop til You Drop' sale banners flying all over the place. Two for $12.oo camis with built in bras in every color of the rainbow....built in bras for whom? Then - you get to the cash register...and even with your $25 off coupon you still pay $139.00 for two skorts , two tops and a sweater. Oh- and the Webkins. Gotta get one for the little girl, too.

And, then back at home- I saw it.

(Backstory) They are not suppose to live this long. We've had him for over a year. People buy these things as food for bigger things! But he's mine and I love him. I change the water and feed it and find day care for it when we go out of town. Yet another thing to schedule and clean and feed. I thought we had avoided a potential problem earlier in the week...when I went to clean the bowl and accidentally broke it. Quick -get the largest glass mixing bowl you've got! Phew! Gotta get to the pet store tomorrow.

But the days in the replacement bowl have not been the same. Not the usually perky, voracious eating 'shark-man' that we have come to know and love. Looking a little green around the gills, dude - seriously.

I'm sorry I failed you Sharky the Goldfish. Truth be known, I loved watching you swim in your 1 gallon world. Eating your own doody and then spitting it out. You were MY pet. And. I. Miss. You.

R.I.P. fishy.

I am almost sure I saw the movie, "All Goldfish go to Heaven", so it has to be true. Hang in there. Sorry about your loss...there's other fish in the sea. (sorry)

Aw. This made me think of that very first episode of Cosby, when Rudy's goldfish died and they had a funeral in the bathroom. So sad.

And right there with ya on the Limited Too! disgust. Half the stuff there is more expensive than what I find in "big girl" stores. RIDICULOUS! But my daughter loves it--all that glitter, all those fun colors, and the lure of Jonas Brothers merchandise.

We're not quite big enough for the Limited Too yet but I dread those days..So far so good at The Children's Place outlet..

Sorry about your fishy-poo..Don't be sad though. He's with his fishy mommy and daddy up in fishy heaven now.

I killed my daughters goldfish by cleaning the fish bowl with Windex. Who knew?

That is so funny. We've had a goldfish that we got at a fair...3 yeas ago! They are not supposed to live that long...are they? Esspecially when they reside in the kid's room and are nver eaned or fed.

We too have a blessed goldfish.
Sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy to your family at this tragic time.

Hey, Carrie stole my line. I have some kittens that are destroying my house. I bet they would be calm, cool, and collected at your place :-)

And Limited too. Oh, my. I have this ginormous stack of $15 off coupons for each $40 purchase. And I feel compelled to use them. And everytime we go there, my girls feel the need to buy webkinz. How many of those things will I be expected to house?

Damn. Poor fishy.

Sorry for your loss...have the girls noticed yet? You could have just got another and no one would have been the wiser....and i won't tell how you almost dumped fishy down the sink while cleaning his bowl a few months back.

About the Limited. My almost 16 year old is STILL wearing the cami's with the built in bra's..the same ones she wore when in the 5th grade.

Try JC Penny!

I'm sorry about your fishy. It sounds like he lived a full life at least.

R.I.P. Fishy. Sorry that I am giggling just a little, I didn't really know you could attach such emotion to a fish.
I'm sorry for your loss, would you like a child?

All I have to see is the 'doody' word and I am completely undone. The original potty-humor girl. Some things never change. I'm sorry for your fishy loss. I've easily killed a dozen over the years (tank, etc. now in storage in the depths of basement)

I feel your pain. My youngest has a love for Jpocketbook's pain. Justice for Girls, which is essentially the same thing (with a different name), as Limited, too., is the scene of youngest daughter's periodic drooling and wheedling. I will grin and bear it for special occasions though.

Just remember, he has his little angel fishy fins in heaven now.

So sorry.

#1: So sorry for your loss.

#2.Limited Too should be renamed Limited Funds Too. Who charges $39 for a pair of shorts? UGH. And now I'm venturing into Hollister/Abercrombie territory.

Ah, poor fishy. May he swim in peace.
I heard Limited Too was going out of business. I can't imagine how with those prices!

RIP Sharky! I'm certain that he has company in whatever afterlife fish go to when they pass because I've successfully killed at least six betas.

And this is totally why I am denying my kids a goldfish. Because I'll be the one feeling dismal when it goes to the big fishpond in the sky.

RIP, little fishy.

There is nothing like a trip to the pet store to bolster your spirits.

Great reference to "The Jerk" on my story contest. I wonder if she had been born a poor black child?

I understand the love of a goldfish. My calico goldfish Pete used to kill anyone that I put in his 3 gal tank...and he also ate his own doody and the doody of the dead roommates he briefly had. After 2-1/2 years together, I had to have my college roommate flush him for me. *sniff*

Oh poor fishy, I had the same shocking experience with my Pish Pish recently this year.,

did yu know Bettas could get some kind of rigor mortis and go head first into their pretty marbley rock things?

I did not either
